This Privacy Policy explains how TypeOrDrop ("we", "us", "our"), available at typeordrop.com, collects, uses, and protects your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: email address, and any profile data you provide, via our authentication provider (Supabase Auth). If you sign in with a third-party provider (e.g., Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider.

Usage data: pages visited, tools used, job/conversion history, timestamps, approximate location (derived from IP), device/browser type, and referral source.

Files you upload: files submitted for conversion, and URLs submitted for download, are processed temporarily to deliver the requested output.

Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is handled by Paddle, our payment processor. We do not store your full card number; Paddle processes and stores payment details under its own privacy policy.

Anonymous usage: if you use the Service without an account, we track daily usage quota via a temporary identifier (not linked to personal identity beyond IP-based rate limiting), which expires daily.

Cookies and similar technologies: used for authentication sessions, preferences, analytics, and (on the free tier) advertising, as described in Section 5.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service (process conversions/downloads, enforce usage quotas)
• Authenticate accounts and manage subscriptions
• Process payments and prevent fraud
• Send transactional communications (e.g., account, billing, job status notifications)
• Monitor, debug, and improve Service performance and reliability
• Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use uploaded files to train AI or machine learning models.

3. File Storage and Retention

• Uploaded files and converted/downloaded outputs are stored temporarily to allow you to retrieve your results.
• Files are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers after a limited period (typically within 24–72 hours of processing), whether or not you download the result.
• We do not review file contents except as needed for automated processing, abuse detection, or in response to a valid legal request.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only with:

• Service providers who help us operate the Service, including Supabase (authentication, database, storage), our hosting provider, Paddle (payment processing), and error-monitoring/analytics providers.
• Advertising partners (Google AdSense/AdMob), for free-tier users, as described in Section 5.
• Legal authorities, if required to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TypeOrDrop, our users, or the public.
• A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy or a materially equivalent one.

We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Advertising and Analytics

Free-tier use of the Service displays advertising served by Google AdSense (web) and Google AdMob (mobile app). These partners may use cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies to serve personalized ads based on your activity on this and other sites, subject to Google's own privacy policy and ad settings. You can manage ad personalization at Google Ads Settings. Premium subscribers do not see ads.

We may also use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your personal information
• Export your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, rate limiting, automated file deletion) to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for international transfers.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us to have it removed.

10. Data Retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal, tax, and dispute-resolution purposes. Uploaded/converted files follow the shorter retention period described in Section 3.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be notified via the Service or by email. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision.
